Meditation With Our Children, Benefits and Bonding

Meditation With Children Benefits Us All
Meditation With Children Benefits Us All

I was recently asked about meditation for children and I was replying I thought what a wonderful topic for today’s blog post.

The Age of Innocence
From 0 – 7 our children are in their innocence stage which means they are, most of the time living in the present moment; the space where all knowing stems from. However, with each year that passes their environment will prompt them to look into the past and the future, and with human time constraints they will have to start to work at spending time in the now. During these years our young ones are like sponges soaking up their environment, family, beliefs and behaviours. Much of our programming stems from this age bracket.

Meditation
Meditation is a great way of doing that, it allows us to slow down the thoughts and be at one; at peace and open. Meditation takes us to the other side of the thoughts and invites in the knowledge, the genius, the guidance and the freedom our soul cherishes. Meditation can be as short as a minute or two or many hours long. Many people do a morning and evening meditation, while some do just one. Meditation is not a restricted structured practice and as one learns to reconnect with themselves they will find their own balance. However, it is never too young to learn and I feel that if schools could include meditation I their timetable, our children will create a quality environment in school, with their friends and at home. Doing it before exams brings clarity and before sleep, it leads to a restful slumber.

The Breath
A good starting block is to work with the breath; taking a deep inhalation in allowing the belly to inflate like a balloon followed by a slow deep exhalation to deflate the balloon (This is a good visualisation of what is going on and children will find it easy to understand. Now, we can accept this breathing action in a number of ways such as;

• Our lungs are filling with oxygen to revitalise and regenerate our body
• Or we could immerse the self deeper and accept that each breath in is full of universal love passing through us and healing our soul before it moves on with the outwards breath
• Or with each inhalation we are connecting with spirit to guide us to freedom, internal beauty and unconditional love before we release any stagnant energy and blockages in order to create inner peace

Which ever works best for you, for me it is all three.

Breath work is a great way of taking the focus away from the thoughts allowing your mind to take a break, even a holiday.

Storytime
Children get into a space of stillness very easily especially when you read to them. I found reading to my children created calmness, it caused them to still. During the day, the stories would be filled with different voices and tonality with hand movements to keep them interested and intrigued and then before bed, the stories would be soft and slowly narrated. I often found the books with no or limited words were the best for ad-lib, each time creating a new tale. There is a great little book called

Peaceful Piggy Meditation. Click here for details.

Lead Them By What You Do
Another way of introducing your child to meditation is when they are happily playing you could explain that you are about to be still in meditation and you will be unable to answer their questions or play with them for the next 5 – 10 minutes and during this time could they agree to be as quiet as a mouse as you want to clear your mind (note: to meditate, silence is not required, the idea is to be at peace even when the noise is all around us).

Physical Connection
Perhaps as they observe you, they will either honour your request and be rewarded with 5 – 10 minutes of your time after the meditation or you could invite them to join you. Sit on the floor with your back upright, lean against the sofa for support if necessary, then have them sit in front of you with their back to you, they can lean back into you if that is more comfortable for you both, now find a suitable way to put your arms around their waist, over their shoulders or rest them on their shoulders and set aside at least a 5 minute connection time. Either way whether it is just you meditating or you both are, the energy ripples out and your child will be within the vibration. Children do as we do way more than as we say. Children will emulate parents and incorporate these powerful tips at a younger age, if parents are also practising meditation. We are their role models.

Guided Visualisation
Another idea would be to lead them through a guided meditation. Have them sit quietly and close their eyes. You could guide them through 3 breathes and then gently take them into the visualisation. I have included many suggestions but in each case pick one at each level. Next time you can pick a different one.

Have them create a wonderful place in their minds eye (imagination), suggest it to be in a field, a woodland, on the beach, by the camp fire or on top of the mountain; they don’t share it with you but keep slowly talking and guiding them to feel comfortable there. Explain this is one of their favourite places that is filled with magic. Have them look around and take it all in, the view, the colour, the feeling, the sounds, the smells if there are any. Allow them to submerge into the vision. When it feels right have them gently look into the distance where something has caught their attention, perhaps a bird singing, a flower blooming, an animal passing by, a chair or a box, tin or bag (these are all symbols). Focusing on the symbol, have them move closer to it. Invite them to connect with whatever it is; and either watch it, talk with it, touch it or play with it. Throughout the meditation create time space for them to explore the journey. Next have them ask internally to the symbol ‘I hear you have a gift or message for me, can I have it please? ’.

Give them a moment to receive the message and suggest they find a way to store it; either in her pocket, written on paper, in a jar, as a photograph or a recording. You will feel your way through this and when the time is right you suggest that she thanks the symbol for their time and wisdom and with the message safely tucked away have her slowly come back into the room.

This can take any where between a couple of minutes or be extended to as long as desired.

After meditation, have them share it with you; as much or as little as they choose. Ask them if they have any idea what the message means to them as this is one of the ways the universe can guide us.

You can meditate your self at the same time; yours will be a mindful meditation as you will be guiding both of you. Perhaps share your meditation with your child if that works for you as a child will see the message with innocence and without attachment. They could help you unravel a major challenge and find a conclusion.

Benefits and Bonding
Meditating with your child has heaps of benefits; you will both have down time, peace, stillness and clarity. You will have created a bonding and an activity that brings a wonderful connection between you both. Your child will learn how this great tool serves them, putting your mind as a parent to rest, enabling you to feel that they will be able to over-ride stresses of emotions, struggles, friendships and later in life help them with tensions around studies and exams.

This time spent together can be classed as precious time in our face paced world, for many of us we struggle to give our self permission to stop but we will find time for our children so why not make it a joint benefit as you and your child embraces the craft of meditation and visualisation.

Tune Into Your Personal Vibration and Flow

calendar-151591_640
Where is your FLOW today?

Personal Days

GO FOR WHAT YOU WANT

Day 1 is the day of creation, time to start something, time to make a plan and act on it. Seek the new; job, project, promotion. Take the lead focus on the outcome. Stand on your own two feet. Trust your intuition. Move forward, create, invent and begin .

KEEP YOUR TONGUE STILL AND YOUR LIPS CURLED UPWARDS

Day 2 is the day of collection, be receptive, receive graciously. Use the soft approach, create harmony. Stand in the other person’s shoes. Be supportive of others, listen more and speak less. Be guided and follow, observe. Collect information, data, facts, things and friends. Be patient, straighten any misunderstandings, apologise and cooperate. Patience is an art.

SHINE LIKE A BEACON

Day 3 is the day of self expression; sing, dance and create sunshine where there is rain. Take everything at face value, don’t plan ahead, live in the moment and be inquisitive as a child full of fun, imagination and creativity. Compliment others, praise and bless them. Socialise and entertain for both work and personal, stare obstacles in the eye and use them to elevate you

TODAY CREATE THE FOUNDATIONS OF A REWARDING TOMORROW

Day 4 is the day work, structure, foundations and precision. Add some music to create good flow and stick to the schedule, checking the list as you go. Put everything in order at home, at work, in finances and well-being, no room for bulges, everything neat and symmetrical. Think house building, foundations, quality materials, craftsmanship, in detailed order always aiming to place the roof on top and then see the reward.

MAKE A NEW SONG FOR A TALE SO OLD

Day 5 is the day of expansion and freedom. Released from yesterday’s details you are ready to expand your curiosity in all directions. It’s time to make new friends, go to new places, take chances and modify the mundane. Turn left instead of right; see things from a different angle or perspective. Everything today should be hands on and experiential. Watch a different genre of film and do something someone else loves so that you feel their passion in your new learning. Promote yourself and your business. Be versatile and be flexible.

OIL THE CARBURETTOR, MOW THE LAWN AND HAVE THE TABLE LAID

Day 6 is a day of adjustment, time to be ready for what may come your way. It is all about responsibility; are you shirking yours or poking your nose in others. Time to connect and care for the family and community but be careful not to meddle; you will not be thanked for it. Spick and span is the order of the day, spring clean, repair, maintain, redecorate and rearrange, do you have enough chairs, is the bread fresh and have the coffee on. Today you are ready to nurture and serve. Make those phone calls you have been putting off, especially to your parents or sick aunt and if at work be there for your employees.

TIME TO RETREAT AND REPLENISH, YOUR TRUTH IS CALLING YOU

Day 7 is a day of introspection with the air of that snugly stay at home Sunday feeling. Everything today is for you, let go of the rush and the panic and find a quiet spot where you can have peace and tranquillity. If not all of the day, at least part of the day should be spent alone, remove the noise, take your ear buds out, turn off the radio and TV and tune into your higher self. Activities for the day are meditation, visualisation, innersising and breathing for it is time to be present. Stop, look and listen to your world. Mindfulness will give you new insights; acknowledge your emotions, all of them, listen to the voice from within for guidance. Get out in nature you need space from the hamster wheel even for a small period of time. This will ground you for the days ahead. Study, research, analyse and correlate. You may feel like withdrawing from the world, time to be alone but not lonely.

ALL FIRED UP, IT’S TIME TO GO

Day 8 is a day of executive power, organise your forces, look at your affairs, know where you stand. Take hold of the opportunities, cast away your doubts, cash in on your hard work, it’s time to harvest; you reap what you have sown and nurtured. Success breeds success. Acknowledge your creative power and advance forward; stand up, stand out and elevate others. Empowerment is there when you stand tall and strong, material and financial gain is possible. You are not dependant on others; you gain the confidence of others with your strength. Money is a stepping stone; attract it for the greater purpose and not self indulgence. The main aim for attracting money is to give to the self making you catered for to serve others. Money flows and you must do the same. Today you play the cards you have been dealt in the previous seven days. The results coincide with the vibration you have been resonating at.

WE ARE ALL CONNECTED THROUGH ENERGY AND VIBRATION

Day 9 is a day of conclusion and compassion; see the good in the things you don’t. How have you added to the environment, what humanitarian things can you assist with…? After yesterday’s lesson it is now time to give back; financially, with service, with compassion and as an equal. No one is better than another, we are all on a journey with one purpose, to raise the vibration on earth and evolve our soul. Today see only people’s good qualities, let go of any and all judgement. Be charitable. Today is about completion, tie up loose ends, sign contracts, cancel subscriptions, let go of what has not been working in order to make space for the new of tomorrow. If you have a presentation or a public speaking event your audience is waiting to be uplifted. Today you are connected to the universal love and understanding for others and or our planet. Know your pain is my pain as is your pleasure. How you vibrate ripples outward to others. Tomorrow is a new day, built on the good you have done today and over the 8 days.

It Is Not Just Men That Are From Mars, Woman Can Be Too

people-467438_640
Odd or Even, whose your family and whats your group?

In Numerology there are two families, family ‘odd’ 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 and family ‘even’ 2, 4, 6, 8; here we are not referring to character but to the number itself.

The odd family have masculine energy and can be introvert in behaviour while the even family have a feminine energy and can be seen as extrovert.

The families then break out in groups, 1, 5, 7 are the numbers of intellect, 2, 4, 8 wear the business hat while 3, 6, 9 are the creatives.

The intellects 1, 5, and 7 are often well educated; you will often find them in their head, thinking, thinking, thinking… They enjoy travel and on the whole, have plenty of energy. At times too much so, they would benefit by being outdoors doing physical work or exercise in order to release the pressure valve on their thoughts freeing them up for a little more fun and enjoyment. Sometimes I think the book ‘Men Are From Mars, Women are From Venus’ is based around the 1, 5 and 7 energy as these numbers will always be offering you solutions and dissecting you without you even asking.

The creative 3, 6 and 9 are exactly that, creative. They are born entertainers, fun and artistic whether in painting, music, dance or acting. Often at an early age they can hit challenges within the family or get crushed by those that believe they are silly, scattered and not looking to grow up. This causes them to withdraw and shrink within suppressing their joys. From this space they look deeper into the realms of their imagination creating vast universes of escapism which they express through their form of art.

The business 2, 4 and 8 each have their own role in the business world. The 2 creates the relationships, the 4 establishes security and structure and the 8 understands financial freedom and elevates and motivates on a grand scale. These are relationship numbers, the supports often in the background, the 4 builds a team and the 8 nurtures their employees’ strengths. These numbers will do better if they let go of rigidity from time to time and free up from work to create leisure time; definitely the workaholics.

What number is your family and group?

How to calculate which family and group you are in:-

For this exercise we will take the date of birth down to a single digit. For the record though a double number like 11, 22 or 33 have an extra challenge as they are Master numbers but first they must overcome the single number.

Let’s take the date 17/5/1973

17 = 1 + 7 = 8
5
1973 = 1 + 9 + 7 + 3 = 20 = 2 + 0 = 2

8 + 5 + 2 = 15 = 1 + 5 = 6

The person with this date of birth has chosen the family ‘even’ and the creative group. Out of all the numbers the 6 is the most versatile and compatible number; while it has great creativity, it also is a super business number. The 6 generally runs family style businesses which makes sence as this number is the most natural parenting number.

What Do Your Traditions Say To You

cartoon-304650_640
Today I stumbled across this video which I found entertaining and insightful in more ways than one. Since I have started’ Innercising’ with my Soul and awakening to my world, the world I have come to question as if an inquiring child. No longer do I accept all that I am told, the patterns that I grew from or the beliefs and habits that no longer serve me. As I awaken and become more aware; it is not so much that I take a step back but a step up, I observe the masses being herded towards what the governing bodies and corporations want us to see including areas of power, defence, religion and education, leading me to ask ‘why do we do what we do?’

Not just at Thanksgiving, which as an English person living in England I have not yet celebrated but why do we do what we do at each holidays including Christmas and Easter.

I confess that having inquisitive children can lead you to question traditions (a plus for being a parent, well an awakening parent which I was not at that time), for example on Good Friday I have never eaten meat and always served fish. My children not being a great fan of fish questioned why this was so. I gave them an answer ‘It’s tradition, I grew up on this habit’, to which they fired another question. ‘Where did the tradition come from?’ Baffled I searched the internet and 8 years ago we could not find an answer. Today I searched again and found a number of reasons. The internet is opening up the opportunity to learn and grow.

Another research led me to an article about roasting meat. A young girl asked her mother why she removed the ends of the meat prior to roasting. Her mum’s reply was ‘tradition’, my mum taught me and actually I have no idea; thinking about it I think it was to allow the juices to flow but I could be wrong and with that mum suggested she call her grandmother. So she did and asked the question ‘why did gran cut off the ends of the meat when cooking a roast’. Gran confirmed she did, had no reason why, explained that her mother had taught her and perhaps her mum had given her the answer and closed the conversation with a suggestion for the young granddaughter to call her great grandmother. And so she did. She shared how she had arrived at the question of the roast meat, watching mum, asking why, being passed onto gran and then now to her great grandmother who having listened carefully to everything started to laugh.

‘It is not to allow the juices to flow she said still breaking into laughter; I cut the ends off because the meat did not fit in the pan and I could not afford a bigger pan’ and they both began to laugh together.

Crazy how traditions start and how we continue with them with no idea if we need to. Some of them like this one does not even have a purpose and at the same time wastes two good pieces of meat.

We create self programmes in order to help us, sometimes to protect us. Most often those habits stem from the need of protection as a 3 year old. And if my observation is correct you are no longer 3.

If you have ever wondered why you are repeating the same unfortunate experience over and over, I would say it is from a habit or belief you need to recalibrate, chances are the protection the current you needs is different from that of a 3 year old.

When we play at life as a child, we are always inquisitive and open. Once a day I stand back and ask myself better questions. They could be as simple as is there a quicker or better way to peel a potato or why do I feel that way about what just happened.

I live by these two pieces of information;

We don’t know what we don’t know
And
Receive everything today as if the first time given.

The first leads me to be open in order to learn and grow and the second highlights there are more ways to do something.

Check out your traditions, where and how did they originate. Do they still serve you? We create and continue with habits and beliefs without recalibrating whether they still serving us.

Please share in the comments any traditions, habits or beliefs you came to accept were not serving you. I would love to hear how you rearranged your life around them.

And on a different note, towards the end of the video the educator proposes a question about Black Friday as a gimmick to get lower income people to splash their cash. I don’t doubt this to be true after all the reason we wear the diamond engage ring was so that De Beers could sell diamonds and I will save that tale until Valentine’s Day

And now for the video

How I Used Numerology to Be a Better Parent

My youngest son is struggling with the education system here in the UK. We constantly are at battle on this topic. I can see he has been struggling and has turned away from any help. I say to him, I don’t wish to challenge you but the school is on my back. Does the school know that they are damaging our relationship and my son’s confidence? Yes. They reply this is the system we MUST follow. I say, we have become sheep and just follow. Two years back when my son had to choose his options, there was nothing on offer that really appealed to him so I looked into his numbers. He is on a Life Path 11/2, the sensitive intuitive.

Understanding this energy; an 11/2 is here to raise spiritual awareness. Yes they are dreamers, have their heads in the clouds and live in a somewhat ideal world. The hardest task for this energy is to turn their visions into reality. People on this path are hyper sensitive; they see the world differently and all too often appear not to fit in. This can knock their confidence causing them to step back from their greatness and they are great, after all they have arrived here under a Master number. Master numbers vibrate at a higher octave; they have a knowing of what most don’t.

The 11/2 will challenge and stand by a cause to the extent of martyrdom and many have died for their cause. Martin Luther King had an 11/2 Expression, it is not all as drastic as this but the 11/2 does have the power to make a difference and I will suggest to a person with this energy, step back and connect with your passion, create the confidence and conviction to follow through and you will achieve success and abundance.

In order to guide my son the best I could around options I saw his Expression number as a 4 and realised he had the skillset of a builder of solid foundations. After many discussions we were able to get him a 1 day release into a college for construction. Had I not seen this, I would have stood back and left him flapping around in a system that for the other 4 days he is challenged in.

My son is not unique in this; many children today are in a similar boat, times are changing, the future of the world has moved on but the education system remains the same. Today I read an article posted on Critical Thinkers site explaining that just having a degree does not mean the student is ready for the work place.

Ernst & Young, the 5th largest recruiter of college graduates in the U.K., has said that after investigating the data, they “found no evidence to conclude that previous success in higher education correlated with future success in subsequent professional qualifications undertaken.”

Our children are being institutionalised to serve the government who have created the very system that does not serve them. My daughter is currently looking for the best university and choosing her topic in what pays the most over what she is passionate about. She will spend 3 – 4 years studying and accumulate a debt between £27-54,000 for a job starting between £18-20,000. 5 years ago I looked at her numbers; she is on a 9 Life Path and her core numbers are 3, 6 and 9 with repeats. Again we had to over explain why she wished to do creative topics over academic, it was not easy and her creative juices were not even flowing at the time but the numbers made us push (well me actually as I confess my children think Numerology is weird as are many of the things I do but as the results come in they are mellowing). With 2 years at GCSE, 2 years at A-level and now on a Foundation for Arts and Design her work is amazing.

I will continue to guide my children the best I can with the support of Numerology.
The image above is one of her pieces. (I must get a better photo taken of this piece).

As for my eldest son, he is on a 3 Life Path, the one of self expression. I did not understand Numerology early enough to use it as a guide for him, however he is living true to his numbers, scattered, image conscious, verbal, childlike and fun. He currently works in communication and if you have any ice to sell I guarantee he could even sell it to an Eskimo.

The power of the numbers allows us to see who we are.
